Is It Normal For The Turbocharger To Be Red?

05-02-2024

When the car is driving at high speeds or long distances, it is normal to observe redness in the turbocharger. Likewise, the exhaust manifold may appear red in this condition. This is because the turbocharger generates high temperatures during operation, causing its appearance to appear red.

The turbocharger is an important part of the turbocharged engine. It consists of two parts: the intake turbine and the exhaust turbine. Among them, the exhaust turbine is connected to the exhaust manifold of the engine and is responsible for using the exhaust gas discharged by the engine to drive its rotation. This design not only improves the engine's air intake efficiency, but also further improves the engine's power performance.

The working principle of a turbocharged engine is relatively simple. When the engine speed reaches a certain level, the energy in the exhaust gas is enough to push the exhaust turbine to rotate at high speed, which in turn drives the compression turbine connected to it to rotate together. The function of the compression turbine is to compress the air and send the compressed air into the engine cylinder, thereby improving the engine's combustion efficiency and power output.
